Prince George22nd October - 25th OctoberThe bus from Calgary to Prince George passed through Jasper, which is about as beautiful a place as Banff. They also showed videos on the bus (X-Men was the best of them), which American Greyhound buses never did. I got into Prince George in the evening, and checked into my hotel. I spent most of the next day exploring the town, which was interesting. Prince George is a small papermill town in the middle of nowhere, so there weren't many of the usual tourist attractions. There was a supermarket that sold loose-weight peanut butter, though. That was just strange. In the evening I met up with Sundragyn, and we went for a meal at an Irish place, which was probably called "O'Kelly's" or something. It was the kind of place that thinks that so long as you paint everything green, it counts as Irish. And they even extended that to whipped cream. The food was good, though. We wandered around Prince George for an hour or two afterwards and had a typically odd conversation about nothing in particular. She pointed out the art gallery to me, and we went to the library and got on-line and chatted to people for a half-hour or so. After that, Sundragyn had to get back home, so we agreed to meet the following evening, and parted company. The next day, I back went to the art gallery. There were two main exhibitions: A video presentation of life in communist China, which was fascinating, and something called "Moisture". I probably did other things as well, but I don't really remember. I met up with Sundragyn again in the evening, and we went to a steak house for dinner. We went for another wander around town afterwards, and got a beer at the hotel bar before she had to leave once more. In the morning, I headed south to Vancouver. |
